First Mountain Volunteer Rescue Group works in Chornohora

Pip Ivan Mountain and the Pip Ivan Mountain Rescue team, which is based in the building of the former observatory, contributed to a new social initiative – the creation of the first public (voluntary) rescue group in Ukraine (cryptonym KuGuaR).

“The KuGuaR project is one of the first steps towards the development of the Carpathian Public (voluntary) Rescue Service. We have been working to create such organisation for a long time, combining it with our main duties” – written on the official website of the project.

“Thanks to contacts and cooperation with professional rescuers from Pip Ivan Mountain Rescue team this initiative became possible,” said one of the founders Volodymyr Horyn.
