The
Astronomical-Meteorological Observatory on the summit of the Pip Ivan
Mountain in the Chornohora mountain range had been opened just before
the outbreak of World War II, on
August 1938. The renovated building should serve rescuers, tourists
and the academic community from Ukraine and Poland.
The
photos show the scaffold installed around the meteorological tower,
which at the same time is the highest part of the building, but also
the most destroyed. Moreover, one of the objectives of the project is
reconstruction and structural adaptation of former astronomical and
meteorological observatory on the Pip Ivan mountain to the needs of
high mountain rescue service training center as well as rescue
station functioning all the year round (24/7).
The reconstruction works are carried out within the project „Adaptation of former observatory on the Pip Ivan mountain to the needs of alpine rescue service training center” (PIMReC)with the financial assistance of the European Union, under the ENI CBC Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020.
